In Portugal, creches are governed by Portaria No. 262/2011, which sets the operating and organisation standards. Since 2021, providers homologated by INEM have delivered paediatric basic life support and paediatric first aid for educators and early-childhood professionals, aligned with the guidance of the Directorate-General of Health (DGS) and INEM. Having staff trained in these skills on hand — and kept up to date — is the expected standard for a creche.
Anaphylaxie et administration de médicaments
Paediatric first-aid training for childcare professionals covers recognising anaphylaxis and administering the child's prescribed adrenaline auto-injector. That auto-injector is given by trained staff with parental consent and kept immediately accessible rather than locked away. When a severe allergic reaction strikes, acting within seconds can save a life.
When a young child chokes, has a seizure or suffers a severe allergic reaction, the first minutes fall to whoever is in the room, not to the help arriving later. A recognised, standards-based certification gives your team the confidence to know exactly what to do and reassures the families who entrust you with their children. Training isn't just meeting a recommendation: it's being ready on the day it truly matters.
